Welsh Premier League: Bala Town v Newtown

Jan 5 2011

by Our Correspondent, Daily Post

HAVING slipped to the foot of the table, Bala Town face a crunch home clash in tonight’s rearranged home clash with relegation rivals Newtown.

A glance at the league table shows the importance of the tussle, with the Lakesiders two points adrift of tonight’s visitors as they look to get back to winning ways following a run of three straight home defeats.

Gethin Lloyd is back for Bala following his one match ban, but Mike Thompson is still suspended.

Boss Colin Caton is backing his side despite the Sunday’s 2-1 home loss toŠAirbus UK, which was the same story of missed chances and defensive mistakes.

“Two defensive errors cost us,” he said. ”The first goal is so important in these games, but overall we did well.

“We created some good goalscoring positions and Mike Hayes (ex GAP Connah’s Quay) did well up front, and will give us more options.”

Newtown will need no reminding that they have not won in 13 league games, but have bolstered their ranks by re-signing defender Mike Jackson from Marine.

Midfielder Robbie Millington has joined from Bridgnorth while former Airbus striker Tom Rowland is another new arrival.
