THE Nantwich Food & Drink Festival is back with an appetising selection of gourmet food and drink, bringing with it even more famous faces, culinary delights and fun filled activities for all the family. This year in association with Roberts Bakery, the festival takes place from today (Friday, September 29) to Sunday, October 1. As well as professional cookery demonstrations from celebrity chefs Lesley Waters and Simon Rimmer, there are many new and tempting features for 2006, including the Edencroft Fine Wine & Spirit Pavilion, where visitors can sample more than 160 drinks from some of the world's finest vineyards and distilleries. Also new for 2006 is the Taste of Cheshire Marquee, where some of the region's most celebrated food makers will be giving artisan demonstrations on traditional food craft skills, from butter churning to truffle making. The Gourmet Food Marquee returns this year, boasting more than 2,000 gourmet food items and samples from the cream of Cheshire's independent food producers and the best of the North West and beyond. The festival also caters for younger foodies, with children's healthy eating expert Amanda Grant returning with the popular Kid's Kitchen, encouraging children to join in the fun, while learning more about the food cycle and what they eat. Last year, the show attracted 28,500 visitors from all over the UK, and this year promises to attract even more food lovers to the town. * Tickets can be purchased in advance from the Festival Ticket Hotline on 01270 610983 or by visiting www.nantwichfoodfestival.co.uk. |
