YOUNG musicians are flaunting their talent in a Christmas festival of Chester orchestras. Cheshire Youth Orchestra will be joined by Cheshire Youth Training Orchestra, Chester Schools String Orchestra and South Cheshire Youth Sinfonia to perform at Kings School on Sunday, December 3 at 7pm. The programme will include Festival Overture by Shostokovich, La Clainda by Delius and Mendelssohn's Fourth Symphony. Pixie Spencer, of the Friends of Cheshire Youth Orchestra, said: 'The training orchestra are now 40-strong and we have three bassoons and two French horns, two trombones an oboe and lots of cellos and violins. 'Not long ago we only had about 15 players altogether so we are thrilled that so many young up and coming musicians are joining. 'The main CYO are short of some essential players on bas-soon, cello, french horn and trombone, our violin section is very healthy but we only have one viola so if there are any young players who would like to join us they can get in touch.' The county youth orchestra are also going to be playing in Chester on December 22 in the Grosvenor shopping centre to raise money towards a concert tour in Lake Garda next summer. * Tickets cost £7 adults and £5 children and concessions and will be available on the door.
