BRYN Terfel has announced a spectacular line-up for the climactic close of his fifth Faenol Festival, Tân y Ddraig (Dragon's Fire) August 30.
The Welsh music evening will feature old favourites including the legendary Dafydd Iwan and his Aberystwyth band, Hergest, alongside the best of the country's new musical talent such as Bafta Award winner Ryland Teifi.
The much-vaunted new Welsh singer-song-writer makes his Faenol debut and will perform material from the Heno album that garnered outstanding reviews both here and in the US. Voted Actor of the Year at the Welsh Baftas in April for his role in Fondue, Rhyw a Deinosors, Teifi comes directly from a headlining appearance at the Festival of World Cultures in Ireland.
Also making their festival debut will be girl band Pheena, recently voted Wales' Best Pop Act by Radio Cymru.
Now a councillor with Gwynedd Council and president of Plaid Cymru, Dafydd Iwan made his first Faenol appearance in 2001 and celebrated his 60th birthday last year after some 40 years of performing across the length and breadth of
Wales with his band and together with folk group Ar Log. "Tân y Ddraig is always a great family day out for me and I get to see many of my childhood heroes together with some of Wales' best upand-coming talent and many of my old friends," says Bryn Terfel.
