Classic fun with Scooby Doo

Dec 22 2006

Chester Chronicle, Llandudno

CARTOON classic Scooby Doo is one of the major highlights of the Regent Theatre's newly unveiled spring season for 2007 in Stoke-on-Trent.

Endorsed by Warner Bros and based on the original Hanna-Barbera cartoon series, Scooby Doo (which runs from April 26-29) is set to be the family hit of the year.

The show features a full size Mystery Machine, popular tunes, physical comedy and awe-inspiring special effects.

There are some big musicals to look out for this spring. Brookside's Jennifer Ellison stars in Chicago (April 9-21), the international award-winning hit, based on the real life events of nightclub singer Roxie Hart.

Blue singer Antony Costa and 70s legend Alvin Stardust star in the 10th anniversary tour of Boogie Nights (February 19-24) and the wonderful world of HRT is celebrated in Hot Flush (April 30-May 5), a brilliant new musical about the menopause, starring Sheila Ferguson, Rula Lenska, Marti Webb and Sam Kane.

Fantastic family entertainment includes Roald Dahl's Danny the Champion of the World (April 3-7), Disney's Beauty and the Beast (June 12-16) and Le Grand Cirque (May 25-27), one of the most magical and spellbinding shows ever.

Stephen Tompkinson stars in the hilarious comedy classic Charley's Aunt (March 26-31). Since winning the Best Comedy Actor Award for Drop the Dead Donkey, Stephen Tompkinson has starred in Ballykissangel, Brassed Off and Wild at Heart.

Fans of Matthew Bourne will be delighted to know that the creator of contemporary masterpieces has another stylish production coming to the Regent Theatre, following his takes on The Nutcracker and the now legendary Swan Lake.

Fasten your seatbelts for Matthew Bourne's The Car Man (October 2-6), Bizet's Carmen re-imagined.
