Ken's royal role as King Rat

Dec 15 2006

Chester Chronicle, Llandudno

THIS year's spectacular Rhyl Pavilion pantomime, Dick Whittington, has finally arrived.

The cast features Ken Morley, perhaps best known for his role of Reg Holdsworth in Coronation Street, as King Rat, Anna Karen as Fairy Bow Bells, Iain Rogerson as Alderman Fitzwarren, Rik Gaynor as Idle Jack and Tara Beth-an as Dick Whittington, Nick Wilton as The Dame and ventriloquist 'Naughty' Nigel Harvey as Captain with Ben as the Ship's Mate.

Ken has performed in quite a few pantomimes, appeared in countless TV programmes, such as two series of Hardware, as well as doing lots of TV adverts.

Undoubtedly, Anna Karen is best known for her creation of the horrendous Olive in On The Buses, who became a national figure as a symbol for the long suffering wife. She is also well known for her role in The Rag Trade, as the bossy Rita and the Carry On films.

Iain Rogerson toured with Godspell, Joseph and with Hull Truck Company in many of John Godber's famous plays. He has been in quite a few TV productions and films and for the last two years has also appeared in UK Productions' pantomimes.

Tara Bethan needs no introduction as she has been treading the boards since she was a student at Ysgol Glan Clwyd.

She has appeared in numerous TV programmes for S4C and as a special guest in many shows.

Rik Gaynor is not just a comedian, or a singer or a producer or a magician or an impressionist or a script and song writer or indeed a fire-eater, clown and the creator of the best holiday park party dances in the UK. He also appears in pantomime!

Nick Wilton started his acting career in a farce under the direction of Brian Rix. Since then he has made a lot of stage appearances playing a whole host of roles, as well as appearing on TV in Heartbeat, Wysiwyg, The Bill and Casualty.

* Dick Whittington opens at the Rhyl Pavilion tonight (Friday) and can be seen until January 13. Ring the box office on 0870 330 0000 for details.
