Claire Sweeney and Ben Richards will team up for the national production of Guys and Dolls when it comes to the Manchester Opera House later this year. Sweeney will star as Miss Adelaide opposite Richards as Sky Masterson while former Coronation Street bad guy Brian Capron takes on the role of Nathan Detroit. The show comes to the North West stage from March 13-31. Claire Sweeney, who first came to national fame in Channel 4's Brookside, has starred to great acclaim in West End musicals, including playing Roxie in Chicago. She recently starred as Miss Adelaide in the West End production of Guys and Dolls opposite Patrick Swayze. Ben Richards has starred in the West End musicals Grease, Saturday Night Fever and The Full Monty, but is probably best-known for his leading roles in the television shows Footballers' Wives and Holby City, as well as being a judge on the prime-time programme Strictly Dance Fever. Guys and Dolls continues to play to sell-out business at the Piccadilly Theatre in London, where it opened on June 1, 2005 to rave reviews, and is now booking through spring 2007. * To book tickets for Guys and Dolls, ring the box office on 0870 160 2874. |
