Technogroup Welshpool Town 5 Airbus UK Broughton 2

THE Wingmakers finish bottom of Group Five of the Loosemores Challenge Cup after losing an entertaining game at Maesydre last night.

With half an eye on Friday’s Welsh Premier League derby at home to Gap Connah’s Quay, Airbus boss Craig Harrison used the dead rubber as a chance to give players in need of match fitness a chance to shine.

One of them, striker Paul Hallows, did just that in the 10th minute when he expertly headed home.

But the hosts hit back to lead by three at the break, with Richard Smart’s peach of an own goal giving them their equaliser.

The visitors, for whom Phil Molyneux missed a good chance shortly after the restart, reduced the deficit in the 73rd minute when Tom Rowlands danced his way through the defence before chipping in.

But Welshpool hit back to run out comfortable winners.
