FALTERING Airbus UK Broughton face their biggest match of the season so far tomorrow when they welcome winless Neath to the Airfield (2.30pm). The Wingmakers’ downturn in form continued on Tuesday night when they were swept aside 4-0 at home by big-spending Rhyl to all but end their chances of progression from Group Five of the Loosemores Challenge Cup. That followed 3-0 league losses at Haverfordwest on Saturday and at home to Porthmadog eight days earlier. With no goals scored and 11 conceded in their last three outings, Airbus chairman Mick Mayfield reckons it’s vital Craig Harrison’s 12th-placed men beat the second- from-bottom South Walians. Mayfield said: “Rhyl are a really good side and I don’t think anybody apart from the top two or three teams will be disappointed by losing to them. “We played pretty well at Haverfordwest on Saturday and monopolised possession, but never really looked like scoring even though we did dominate for long periods. I know that’s worried Craig as much as the goals we’re conceding so that’s something he’ll be looking to put right. “Even though we’re still at an early stage of the season, Saturday is a big game and vital that we try to win it.” Boss Harrison will be boosted by the return of Mark Cadwallader and Matty Woodward from suspension tomorrow. Fellow midfielder Gareth Caughter made his comeback from injury against Rhyl in a match in which number two goalkeeper Phil Doran produced a string of fine saves and Wes Kilgannon continued his fine midfield form. Striker Paul Hallows and midfielder Ashley Williams remain sidelined, while winger Neil Wynne has left for Mynydd Isa. |
