TIM Hughes hit a quickfire hat-trick to see Sychdyn to a 3-1 Premier Division victory at Llansannan on Saturday. The hitman levelled the contest shortly after the break and added his second and third within 13 minutes. Flint Town United Reserves are now five games without defeat after Liam Ashbrooke (2) earned them a 2-2 draw at unbeaten table toppers Prestatyn. Gary Jones and James Guy (2) shared the strikes as improving Aston Park Rangers won 3-1 at Brynford United, whose consolation came courtesy of Matthew Lothan, while Halkyn United Reserves went down 3-0 at home to previously winless Denbigh Reserves. Greenfield carried their fine form into the Premier Cup as they sneaked it 4-3 at Penmaenmawr. John Haseldine, following Lee Taylor (2) and Sean Pritchard efforts, swung the thriller Greenfield’s way. Shotton Steel missed the chance to close the gap on the Division Two pacesetters as they lost 2-0 at Abergele Reserves. Point of Ayr, leading through John Terry and Brett Johns (pen), nearly did Shotton a favour only to be held to a 2-2 home draw by third-placed Llandudno Junction Reserves. Aston Park Rangers, thanks to Sean Connor and Gareth Pooley, picked up their first point of the season as they came from two goals behind to draw 2-2 at Betwys-yn-Rhos, but Caerwys were thrashed 6-1 at Glan Conwy Reserves despite Lee Jones’ first-minute opener. Mostyn Dragons’ march to the Division Two title continued with a 4-0 home rout of Meliden. Doing most of the damage was treble star Sam Watson, with Geraint Jones adding a single. Brynford Untied Reserves, through David Williams (2) and Leon Carrington, got off the mark with a 3-1 win at Shotton Steel Reserves, who led through Jake Reily. Jamie Beresford and Steve Roberts (2) were on target but Holywell Town Reserves were swept aside 6-3 at Llannefydd. Caerwys Reserves and Wepre Rangers booked their places in second round of the Halkyn Cup. Nicky Voyle, Ritchie Roberts (2), Richard Hughes and Tom Smith netted in Caerwys’ 5-0 home romp over Bro Cernyw while Lee Cousins, Dave Joyce, John Campbell and Craig Brielly, with the extra-time winner, were Wepre’s heroes in their 4-3 success at Rhos.
