LEE Molyneux was the hero as Flint Town United Reserves made it four Premier Division triumphs on the trot on Saturday with a 1-0 victory at Halkyn United Reserves. Greenfield stayed one place behind the Silkmen in fifth after they, courtesy of Sean Pritchard, Matthew Bennett, John Haseldine and Darren Wilde, won 4-2 at Sychdyn to also make it four wins on the run. Richard Hughes and Jack Murphy offered the replies. Aston Park Rangers’ upturn in form was ended by a 2-0 home defeat to Llansannan while Tim Jones got Brynford United’s goal in their 4-1 reverse at Mochdre. Gap Connah’s Quay Reserves swept to a seventh successive Division One success as they sent Betws-yn-Rhos packing 7-1. Carl Wilson opened the scoring before braces from James Gambino, Ben Howarth and Adam Dickinson sealed it for the second-placed hosts in the final 35 minutes. Shotton Steel suffered their first defeat as they went down 4-0 at home to Llandudno Junction Reserves. Llandudno Reserves moved above the Steelmen into pole position after their 4-3 home win over Point of Ayr, who went close through Andy Hill, John Terry and Graham Williams, while Aston Park Rangers Reserves’ search for their first point continues after they were edged out 4-3 at Y Glannau despite Matthew Conway (pen), Danny Harwin and Brian Hughes strikes. Caerwys were beaten 3-0 at home by Abergele Reserves. But there was good news for Caerwys Reserves as, inspired by Nicky Voyle, they romped home 5-1 at Llanrwst Reserves in Division Two. Voyle’s four-goal haul, three of which came in the last 15 minutes, was complemented by Richard Hughes. Aston Park Rangers 3rds, through Mike Wilson and Lee Simpson, moved up to third with a 2-1 triumph at Holywell Town Reserves, for whom Terry Jones had equalised, while Lee Cousins (2) and Darren Billingsley (pen) were on target as Wepre Rangers won 3-0 at Bro Cernyw. Brynford United Reserves seemed set for a shock Halkyn Cup first-round home victory over Division Two pacesetters Mostyn Dragons, only for the clash to be abandoned two minutes from time after a bust-up between the teams. Brynford were leading 2-1 after Lewis Dakin and David Booth cancelled out John Stamatiou’s firstminute opener. Shotton Steel Reserves lost 2-1 at Penrhyn. |
