AWAY-DAY specialists Mold Alexandra swept to a 6-2 success at Guilsfield on Saturday – despite playing the second half with 10 men. The Alyn Park outfit, now unbeaten on the road in four but yet to win at home, broke the deadlock in the 37th minute when Sam Roberts, having earlier gone close from distance, crashed in. Four minutes later Owain Roberts was sent off for dissent by Italian-born referee Carmelo Lo Faro and his woe was compounded when the hosts equalised five minutes after the break. Mold regained the advantage shortly after, though, through Dave Pitson’s header, and from that point on they never looked back. Chris Guy netted from 20 yards before Pitson raced on to goalkeeper James Collins’ clearance to coolly slot in his second. A delightful chip from Stuart Hayes made it five before shell-shocked Guilsfield pulled a goal back, but Mold had the last word when debutant Sam Davidson took Wayne Craig’s pass and clinically converted. Flint Town United maintained their fine form with a 1-0 home victory over Denbigh Town. Robbie Chesters’ first goal for the Silkmen settled the contest. Buckley Town did Flint a favour as they won 2-1 at home to high-flying Ruthin Town, whose late penalty consolation gave the final scoreline a flattering outlook. The Trotters could easily have scored more than the two that they did through Mitchell Booth’s piledriver and Miles Todd’s well-taken volley. Mynydd Isa fought hard in going down 1-0 to new leaders Holyhead, although Stuart Wood and Dean Hardstaff came close to earning the visitors a point.
