CONNAH’S Quay Tigers leaped to third in the Under 12s Division with a stunning 10-1 triumph at Penyffordd Panthers on Saturday.

Five-goal star Chris Halliwell did most of the damage, with Henry Badhams helping himself to a hattrick and Harry Massey a brace. Captain Aled Smith reduced the deficit for the Panthers.

Unbeaten Shotton Steel took over at the top with an 8-0 home victory over Penyffordd Pumas, given to them by the predatory Ben Brierly (4), Ryan Pearce (2), Danny Anderson and Ryan Bradley.

Phoenix and Holywell Town Juniors shared a 2-2 draw, with Charlie Warrington and Lewis Paynter on target for the hosts, Nathan Beale and Daniel Price for Holywell.

Two own goals helped Hawarden Rangers seal their place in the second round of the NEWFA U12s Cup.

Edward Lloyd (2) and Jake Cruz got Hawarden’s other efforts in their 5-2 home win over Cefn United Youth, for whom David Walker and Adam Davies responded.

Jonathon Gorman and Aaron Jeffries offered Ewloe Harriers’ replies in their 6-2 home reverse to Rhosddu Youth while Adam Avery netted Mynydd Youth’s consolation in their 3-1 home loss to Johnstown Youth.

Mostyn Dragons moved level at the top of the Under 13s Division with a 6-1 success at Aston Park Rangers on Saturday.

In what was the only league or cup game to beat the weather, doubles from Niall Hill, Danny Chamberlain and Charlie Feeney did for Aston, for whom Jared Carey pulled a goal back.

Mold Junior Jets conceded their Challenge Cup first-round home clash with Hawarden Rangers.
