BUCKLEY Town Juniors are riding high at the top of the Under 16s Division after they won a nine-goal thriller at Flint Town United Youth 5-4 on Saturday.

Doubles from Aled Reece and Ross Diamond plus a Shaun Tinsley single ensured Buckley edged it, with Josh Davies (2), Jamie Rowe and Adam Leigh taking Flint close.

Mold Juniors, courtesy of second- half strikes from William Higginson and Jamie Parsonage, came from behind to win 2-1 at previously unbeaten Halkyn United, who led at the break through Ian Jones.

Mike Dromgoole’s brace earned Hawarden Rangers a 2-1 home triumph over Hearts Roma, for whom it was their first loss.

Penyffordd got off the mark with a 1-0 win at Mostyn Dragons, who fell to their first defeat at the hands of Mike Newns’ first-half effort.

Jamie Wynne’s hat-trick was the highlight of unbeaten Wepre Scorpions’ 6-1 success at Mynydd Isa Youth, for whom Nathan Whitehead netted their consolation. Ryan Williams, Chadd Shelbourne and Ryan Holloway also got in on the act for Wepre.

Asa Hamilton was the match-winner as Buckley Town Youth kicked off their Youth Division campaign with a 1-0 home victory over Mostyn Dragons on Saturday.

Mynydd Isa Youth had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Rhos Aelwyd as a result of Ryan Valentine’s second-half goal.

Ryan Worrall and Alex MacKay could not stop Flint Town United Youth from going down 3-2 at home to Prestatyn Athletic, for whom Matthew Griffiths and Luke Elden (2) did the damage.
