CHRIS Sharp produced a performance that would have done his legendary father proud as Nomads slipped to their first back-to-back defeats of the Welsh Premier League season on Friday night. The striker, son of former Everton and Scotland frontman Graeme, scored twice as Nev Powell enjoyed yet another happy homecoming. The former Nomads boss has now won on each of the three occasions he has brought Bangor to the Deeside Stadium. And like in those first two encounters, his Citizens were worthy winners as Steve O’Shaughnessy’s side were given a first-hand insight into what it will take to break into the top five. The Gwynedd visitors, who did just that last time out, went in front in the 28th minute when the lively Sion Edwards tapped in after Sharp hit the woodwork for the second time. But Nomads, cheered on by their biggest crowd of the campaign, levelled moments later when Liam Loughlin took full advantage of some lapse defending to fire in his third of the term. The impressive Loughlin then went close again before Bangor regained the lead five minutes before the break as Sharp reacted quickest to beat the increasingly busy Chris Maxwell. And the same player killed the contest 10 minutes after the restart when he slotted in a penalty awarded after Edwards was brought down in the box by Lee Bamber. Nomads, who will make their way to holders Bangor in the second round of the Welsh Cup next month, were given some welcome news on the eve of the match when Aden Shannon reaffirmed his commitment to the club after interest from league rivals Caersws.
