Rugby union – Revenge is sweet for Mold

Oct 17 2008

by Paul Wheelock, Flintshire Chronicle

MOLD Under 14s produced a superb team performance to batter old foes Whitchurch 65-0 on Sunday.

The English side got the better of the under-strength Welshmen the last time the two sides met – but not this time.

David Bowen, Rhys Williams, Alex Pope, Joe Jones, Joe Hughes, Laurence Jones and Emyr Gwynedd shared the touchdowns for Mold, with Emyr, James Strong and Rhys slotting over the conversions.

Mold U15s continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 33-10 victory over Winnington Park.

With the forwards setting up a good platform to allow the backs to cut through Park’s defences, Mold ran in tries through Adam Campbell (2), Lewis Barker, Gareth Williams and Kyle Hughes, with Lewis and Jack Martin adding two conversions each.

In-form Mold U13s sent Caer- narfon U13s packing 52-10, with Josh Marrs (4), Cameron Jones, Thomas Walker, Kieron Lyons and Aled Lloyd-Davies crossing the whitewash for tries, six of which Aled converted.

Mold Youth lost 19-14 at home to unbeaten Halbro Colts League Senior A leaders Tarleton.
