Newi Cefn Druids 0, Port Talbot 3

Sep 25 2006

Daily Post, Llandudno

TEN-MAN Druids remain rooted to the foot of the table after succumbing to three second-half strikes on another day when little went right.

The Plas Kynaston men had their chances to have been ahead, with Osian Jones being denied by the woodwork on just 11 minutes after being released by Andrew Edgar.

But the complexion of the game changed four minutes before half time when Edgar, who was booked earlier for kicking the ball away, was dismissed for his second booking following a challenge.

Reduced to 10 men, hopes of getting much-needed points were quickly dashed.

Port Talbot struck two goals in the opening eight minutes of the second period.

Chad Bond gave the steelworks side the lead on 48 minutes when his cross from the left eluded everybody before finding its way into the net.

And five minutes later, the lively Martin Rose out-muscled the home defence to net a second for the visitors.

With striker Carl Lamb forced off with injury, there was no way back for the Druids who conceded a third goal deep in injury time when substitute Kirk Huggins hooked home number three with Rose the provider.

Defeat leaves the Druids propping up the table, with just one point to show from six outings and in desperate need of a change of fortune.

DRUIDS : Hogg, Hunter (Taylor 78), C Roberts (Wright 90), Hobson, Rowland, Edgar, Jones, Phillips, Heverin, Lamb (Quirke 56), Williams.

PORT TALBOT: Rogers, de Vulgt, Pierce, Mumford, Rees, Surman, Johnston (Huggins 80), Blain (Barrow 83), Rose, Bond, Jones. Sub: Hooper.
