Hounds bog Marsh down

Jan 26 2007

By Flintshire Chronicle, Llandudno

TOM Leonard was the hero for Hare & Hounds as they halted Marsh Lane's Division One title charge.

He popped up with 10 minutes to go to give the mid-table hosts a surprise 2-1 victory.

Hare had taken the lead in the 10th-minute through Darren Parry's 30-yard free kick. However, they were pegged back in the 75th-minute when Mike Jones slot-Deeside Sunday League ted in a penalty to bring the leaders level. But then Leonard struck.

Carlton Club cashed in on Marsh's slip by hammering Red Lion Strollers 11-1 to move within two points of top spot.

Chris Taylor was Carlton's five-goal star, while Dave Glennon fired a treble and Paul Higgins, Wayne Craig and Lee Swann singles. Strollers, who were reduced to nine men, pulled one back through Craig Somerville.

There was a shock in Division Two as The Deg held pacesetters Glan-yr-Afon to a 3-3 split.

Glan were two-up inside the first five minutes thanks to Liam Tyrell and Danny Haynes. But the hosts hit back through Paul Hinds, with a 30-yard free kick, and Alex Thomas.

A see-saw encounter swung back the away side's way when Haynes netted his second of the morning. However, Deg ensured a share of spoils when James Gregory struck late on.

In Division Three, table-topping Boot Inn crashed 3-1 at Cross Foxes.
