THE Grosvenor Museum houses Chester's collection of Roman artefacts alongside a variety of other Chester-related displays. Included in these is the silver gallery, which is a display of the work of Chester's silversmiths. Local history is brought to life with period rooms of the 1680s to the 1920s as well as collections of regional history photography and costume displays. The Natural History Gallery provides an insight into the wildlife of the area, past and present. The genuine Roman tombstones in the Roman graveyard are an interesting alternative to the 'living history' approach favoured by the Deva Roman Experience. Cheshire Military Museum is the museum of the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards, 3rd Carabiniers, the Cheshire Yeomanry, The Cheshire Regiment and Eaton Hall OCS and is located at Chester Castle. Exhibits include paintings, prints, uniforms and militaria dating back to 1685. The museum is currently closed for refurbishment. |
