Getting to Dublin
Getting to Dublin

Sunset at Dun Laoghaire harbour, a beautiful gateway to Dublin.

Ferries

Stenaline's HSS takes 99 minutes from Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire and does four trips a day each way.

Foot passengers can get a day return for as little as £14, which includes the return rail fare into Dublin city centre from Dun Laoghaire, a journey of about 20 minutes. The DART railway station is just across the road from the ferry terminal and the trains run very frequently.

There are lots of other special fares on the HSS, whether you go on foot or take the car.

If you're driving there is also the Stenaline Superferry which takes three hours and goes into Dublin Port. Both vessels have plenty of food and entertainment on board. Tel. 08705 421170

The Irish Ferries high-speed vessel is the Dublin Swift which does a day return from Holyhead to Dublin Port for £12 (children half price). Sailings are four times a day each way and the crossing is 109 minutes.

There's a bus from the ferry terminal into the city centre and if you fancy the Dublin City Bus Tour, Irish Ferries have a good deal at the moment which is £7 for the return bus fare from the port to the city and an all-day hop-on-hop-off bus tour ticket.

Other Irish Ferries deals include travel on the Ulysses, a three and a quarter hour crossing. Tel. 08705 171717
