THE charity Regain is looking for teams to take part in its second exciting action event. The Snowdonia Charity Challenge is a one-day cycling, climbing and canoeing triathlon set in the Snowdonia National Park. Teams of four compete against each other to raise funds for Regain - the only charitable organisation dedicated solely to supporting men and women who become tetraplegic (severely paralysed) as the result of a sporting accident. This challenge takes place on Saturday, June 29, and starts in Llanberis, where teams set off on the first leg of a 40 mile circular cycling route around Snowdon. Along the way, they will have to climb Snowdon itself before completing the cycling section and heading for the grand finish across Lake Padarn in canoes. Each team is required to raise a minimum of £2,000 in sponsorship (£500 per person) for Regain. The charity currently needs more than £500,000 to meet requests for help to purchase equipment including voice-activated computers, sports wheelchairs and adapted vehicles to help people gain more independence after an accident.
