A MOTHER with a love for the outdoors has come to the rescue of parents in the same situation by writing a walking guide aimed at families with youngsters in pushchairs. Hilary Bradnam, who has written, published and marketed the book herself, believes it to be the first of its kind. "With the arrival of my first child, Joshua, in 1997, I didn't relish the idea of being stuck on pavements for years, so I set about investigating walks I could do with a pushchair," said Hilary, of Banc Llugwy, Betws-y-Coed. "I thought there must be other people in the same position so I decided to start writing it all down." Hilary, 45, is no stranger to publishing, having previously published walking books about paths around North Wales with a friend. " We started writing the books in 1986. Our first one was Walks Around Betws-y-Coed and concentrated on low level circular walks for those who didn't want to, or weren't able, to go hiking up mountains," she said. Two other books followed, including Walks in the Villages of Snowdonia and Short Walks to Explore Anglesey. Her individual project began two years ago. At times, Hilary found herself and Joshua on routes that were not pushchair friendly. |
