PUPILS in a newly-formed school council are appealing to council chiefs to splash out on improving their toilets. Children at Ysgol Newborough set up the council last term with help from teacher Carole Richardson to address issues that mattered to pupils in the school. Top of the agenda has been the condition of the toilets and they have now asked local member Peter Rogers to take this up with Anglesey County Council. Miss Richardson said: “The pupils on the school council have taken their positions very seriously and the meetings have been wonderful to see. There are pupils from every year involved and they have all contributed and raised issues that matter to them. The most pressing one has been the toilets with concerns about privacy and their condition. “We asked Cllr Rogers to come and meet the council and he was very impressed with that they had to say. They have now written to the council over the toilets and asked Cllr Rogers to raise the issue.” Cllr Rogers said: “Coming to meet the school council was a great experience and I was so impressed at the way they handled themselves. They were very mature and it was a pleasure to come here and meet them. I will now take the issue of the toilets back to the county council.” |
