Veggie restaurant threw me out over baby's chicken meal

Sep 17 2003

By Sara Thomas, Daily Post

A NORTH Wales mum was thrown out of a vegetarian restaurant for giving her 11-month-old son a jar of chicken baby food.

Shocked Sarah Graham was told it was "offensive" to feed the jar of chicken Heinz food to hungry baby Joshua in the vegetarian eaterie.

And the restaurant owner was worried about "contamination" from the meat in the 49p jar - which contains just 8pc chicken.

Mum-of-two Sarah, 39, opened the jar of vegetables, rice and chicken after ordering a vegetarian lunch for herself and her eight- year- old in the restaurant.

But the family was told to leave after asking staff to warm up the Heinz jar for little Joshua.

Sarah, of Tywyn, Gwynedd, said: "We were treated like criminals just for opening a jar of chicken baby food.

"I've never heard anything so ridiculous in all my life. It was not as if I had brought in a whole roast chicken and started carving it in front of everyone.
