Ferocious grouse leaves would-be Elvis all shook up

Feb 21 2003

Larry Kewley as Elvis

ELVIS impersonator Larry Kewley had plenty to grouse about last night after being attacked by a usually timid bird in Snowdonia.

The 53-year-old bus driver was stunned when a red grouse suddenly flew at his face and pecked him as he walked with his wife Phyllis.

Larry, from Llanrwst, believes the bird attacked after taking exception to being filmed by his camcorder.

His wife captured the incident on video.

But bird experts were last night mystified by the incident as grouse are usually shy birds - more likely fly away from people.

Larry, of Town Hill, was shaken but uninjured in the incident and was last night able to see the funny side.

He said: "I've been wondering what Elvis title describes what happened and can only think of Stuck on You.

"But as you can imagine I'm taking a bit of stick about this from my mates. According to experts grouse don't usually attack and this was a million to one chance."
