A NORTH Wales college is top of the list for awards from a Welsh education standards watchdog.

Llandrillo Learning Network, which has sites in Rhyl, Abergele and Denbigh, is up for five out of seven of fforwm's annual awards.

Fforwm represents all 23 further education colleges in Wales. Through its work with a wide range of partners in post-16 education and training, and on behalf of its member colleges, it helps influence and shape the Welsh Assembly Government's education and lifelong learning policies.

Mike Jones, director of corporate affairs at fforwm said: "The awards themselves recognise outstanding achievements and highlight the breadth of provision in colleges in Wales.

"We were presented with a high number of excellent entries from colleges. This not only demonstrates the level of good case study material the sector has to offer in the award areas specified by fforwm, but also the confidence of colleges to showcase their achievements."

The winners will be announced next month at fforwm's 10th anniversary conference.
