One of the leading opponents of closure, Flint county councillor Ian Roberts, reacted angrily and said: "It's conclusions are an absolute disgrace. "It says we can only have this primary care centre, aglorified doctor's surgery, and not beds. Flint people are being treated like second class citizens. "This is a non-consultation, there is nothing to consult on." Andrew Gunnion of FLHB said: "We're moving forward, not looking back. Clinical viability is the key and we want to provide better health care. "Our proposals will allow this.'' Like other major health reorganisations in North Wales the plans for Flint aim to provide more community-based health care, designed to keep more people out of hospital. The site for the new health centre is not decided, but redeveloping Flint community hospital appears likely. |
