Animal sanctuary in closure threat

If she moves, Lesley plans to stay in North Wales but with smaller premises and fewer animals.

"What I need is sponsorship or fund raisers. On Merseyside we have Friends of Freshfields who do a marvellous job. We get occasional donations but we need something regularly.

"One way people can help is to provide a loan home for the ponies. We retain ownership of the animal but it goes out on loan, possibly for the rest of its life.

"They are very good as companion animals or pets, although not for riding. For £3 a month someone can sponsor one of the horses and that helps pay for the winter feed.

"We also need people who could pick up animals from the vets, someone who could spare half a day a week to help around the animals and we desperately need a handyman who could do the little repair jobs.

"If we could re-home some of the cats it would be helpful, although I guess the pigs and sheep will have to go with me."

* Anyone who can offer help can contact Lesley on 01286 880808.
