Bryn's father, Hefin, summed up the evening commenting: "What an evening eh? And in North Wales too!" Last night, before the Tân y Ddraig concert, Bryn said: "Another year and another fantastic festival. It is extremely difficult to choose my favourite evening. I thought they all had something special about them. "There was something quintessentially Welsh about Friday evening when we all did what we do best, sing together. "On Saturday we had magnificent performances from two great performers in Van Morrisson and Alison Moyet. "The opera gala on Sunday was a chance for me to sing again with Andrea. That is always an exhilarating experience." He added: "And bearing in mind the cool temperatures and the heavy clouds on some evenings, not a drop of rain has fallen on concert-goers." Sunday night's concert was sold out more than two weeks ago. Bryn said this was the first time this had happened in the festival's six-year history. Many concert-goers had brought along picnics and some had queued for hours to be among the first to be allowed into the arena to take prime spots. Bethan Hâf, from Pwllheli, and her party arrived nearly two hours before the gates opened. She said: "It's worth it to get the best place to see the stage. We come every year and it's marvellous. "Bryn Terfel is wonderful for setting up this festival. Long may it continue." Leaving the Faenol after the concert, music lover Colin Williams from Beaumaris said: "Two years ago we had Carreras here, and I said then that was the best show ever in North Wales without any shadow of a doubt. Tonight has not only equalled it but surpassed it." |
