"The bird might just have been con-cerned that the big microphone Larry was carrying might have been a threat to him but that appears to be black and is nothing like another grouse," said Mr Roberts.

"This really is a mystery." Larry is considering sending the tape to a television company.

"It was one of the first things that crossed my mind after the incident. I asked Phyllis if she'd captured the moment on film and told her to keep filming."

Larry, who has been officially dubbed the Worst Elvis in Wales, has raised thousands of pounds for charity over the years.

He is a keen animal lover and 18 months ago was devastated when his pet dog died in a horrific accident after being startled by fireworks.

Ben, a 15-year-old sheepdog, was frightened by a rocket and jumped over a 10ft wall where he hanged himself on his leash.
