'WE DON'T MIND A SEX SHOP - AFTER ALL, IT'S THE 21st CENTURY' NEWS a former funeral directors was to be converted into a sex shop met with a muted response in Conwy last night. In a snap survey there was one dissenting voice. But the majority said they would not be offended if the building became a sex shop. Visitor to Conwy 44-year-old VAL LORD , a council administrator from Stockport, said: "I do not think it is appropriate for a place like this. "You look at all the little cafes and the quaint shops in this beautiful seaside town, and then to have something like this - it is not right." But TRACY ROBERTS , a 37-year-old shop assistant from Conwy, said she did not find the proposal offensive. "It is not like it is a church or has religious significance. It is just a building being used for something else and does not really bother me. I would rather people like that were inside there than hanging around at bus stations." Retired factory worker 62-year-old JOHN JONES from Colwyn Bay was also unfazed by the proposals. He said: "It doesn't bother me. It is not a funeral directors now. "Its not for me but if that's where they want to go then fair enough." Another visitor to Conwy, STEVEN NICHOLS from Durham, a 40 year-old butcher said: "If it's done discreetly and there is nothing in the window that young kids could see, then I don't see this as a problem. "This is the sort of thing that we have in the modern day." PAUL EDWARDS a 22-year-old student from Conwy was also not bothered by the proposals. He said: "I wouldn't be offended by this, it is the modern age and we are living in the 21st century. Live and let live." Pensioner ROBERT ROBINSON who lives locally agreed. He said: "It is the changing face of modern world. I don't think there is anything wrong with this - as long as it is done in a way that does not offend anybody, then I cannot see there being a problem." |
