A NORTH Wales choir signed up by a top boy band manager was last night set for Hollywood stardom. Froncysyllte Male Voice Choir has just landed a lucrative recording deal with the world’s leading record company, the Universal Music Group. And yesterday the choristers discovered British movie producer Zygi Kamasa has optioned the rights to the unique story of their rise to fame. Kamasa, a producer on Bend It Like Beckham and co-producer of George Clooney’s Oscar-nominated Good Night And Good Luck, believes the 60-year history of the choir can be a knock-out movie to rival Calendar Girls or Brassed Off. Manager of the phenomenally successful boy band Blue, Daniel Glatman, “discovered” the choir singing at a wedding reception. It was he who approached producer Kamasa to get him interested in a movie. His latest “boy” band – with a combined age of 3,974 years – yesterday launched their first commercial recording, Voices Of The Valley, produced by the label behind the recording careers of Bryn Terfel, Katherine Jenkins and Aled Jones – not to mention Eminem – and will be released on November 20. |
