Mum Ruth Winston-Jones, 34, from Holyhead, has pleaded with hospital bosses to keep her baby alive. She accused Alder Hey hospital of "sending him to the grave" and demanded they give him the right to live. The baby is undergoing tests at Alder Hey after being moved from Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, last week. Talk of a High Court hearing came just days after a judge ruled in a virtually identical case that little Charlotte Wyatt should be allowed to die. Ysbyty Gwynedd was set to go to the High Court for a hearing about Luke in Luke also suffers from Edwards Syndrome, a life-threatening genetic disorder. Ruth, who is separated from her husband and has two other children, Andrew, 12 and Sophie, seven, told the Daily Post she felt she had "betrayed" her son by taking him to Alder Hey. She said: "I brought him up here to help and they are going to try to let him die. How can they destroy a family and send him to his grave? This is absolutely sick. He has a quality of life. They won't win with my little boy." The baby boy was due to return to North Wales earlier this week but Ysbyty Gwynedd claimed it no longer had the specialist staff required to treat him. |
