Eisteddfod organiser Hywel Wyn Edwards said once agreement had been reached on the 2007 venue, he would then prepare the list of competitions to be published in time for the proclamation ceremony to be held next June or early July. Dr Davies said he was aware a number of people in Flintshire were prepared to donate prize money if the eisteddfod was held within the county. Selwyn Evans, of Welsh bookshop Siop y Siswrn, said: "There are many of us who are willing to donate prize money, and on our part as a company we have already told the organiser of our wish to donate a substantial sum of money to cover one of the eisteddfod's main prizes. "Let's hope that the exact venue is announced soon, so that we in Flintshire can get together to ensure its success. The future of the eisteddfod has been at a crossroads for far too long, and the sooner this business of a venue in 2007 is sorted out the better." Mr Wyn Edwards said fund-raising for next year's National Eisteddfod in Swansea was well ahead of schedule, with 75% of the local target of £272,000 already raised. * Saturday's National Eisteddfod Council meeting in Aberystwyth was cancelled because of the poor weather. |
