"She is being denied her right to be with her son while the hospital is trying to play God," she said. Ysbyty Gwynedd spokesman Alan Parry said it was the first time it had taken such steps. "As a result of Mrs Winston-Jones' behaviour towards nurses in the special care baby unit and the children's ward, and the associated disruption this causes to the care of her baby and other children, the hospital has reluctantly decided to limit her access to the site," he said.. "Before arriving at this extremely difficult decision hospital staff spoke with Mrs Winston-Jones on a number of occasions to discuss her behaviour, and expressed their concerns to her in writing on two previous occasions." Mrs Kirkwood last night branded the hospital's claims as "absolute rubbish". She said: "Ruth has never behaved badly and been abusive or violent, but she has been assertive." In July the hospital was due to go to the High Court for a ruling if it should continue to treat Luke - a similar case to that of baby Charlotte Wyatt, currently before the court. Luke was born with three holes in the heart and with Edwards Syndrome, a rare life-threatening condition. Two of the holes healed naturally and he is awaiting an operation on the third. |
