Terrier Ringo thinks he's a boxer

Black Rus-sian terriers were specially bred in the former USSR and used for riot control.

"Obviously I don't need that on the streets of Ruthin, but it is an impressive and interesting breed of dog for the people to see. With his long black hair the dog reminded me of the Beatles so I named him Ringo Tsar!

"When he is fully grown at three years he should weigh about 65kgs. He could stop someone of about nine stone at the moment."

Russ decided to teach Ringo to kick when he saw a black Russian terrier at a friend's house "He was outside his conservatory sitting down looking at a bulldog inside which was barking like mad. "He sat there dead calm, staring. Then every now and again when the bulldog's noise became too great the sitting Russian would suddenly jump forward and hit the door with his two front feet which made the whole conservatory shake.

"I thought then it would be great to train the dog to do that as a first line of defence.

"On the streets of Ruthin there isn't a need for dogs to control any unruly persons, but it is nice for people to see and if the training continues to go well I will use him at various events next year."
