They have betrayed the elderly

 Previous 1 2 3

“When they closed Wren’s Nest, Greenacres and Erddig, they promised the elderly they would be safe.

“They have betrayed the elderly and broken their promises.

“I am seriously concerned for the continuity of care of the elderly in this country.

“And I fear for the health of these elderly people if they are moved.

“The elected members are just not listening to the electorate.”

Councillors Paul Blackwell, Plas Madoc, and John Humberstone, Smithfield, where the two care homes are located, said they would oppose the closure of the two homes.

Mr Blackwell said: “I am opposed to the closure of any nursing home in Wrexham.

“The care given there is fantastic and can be better than the care given in the private sector.

“There are about 10-12 residents left at Llys Madoc.

Mr Humberstone said: “We are not cash driven like the private sector and that shows in the standards of care provided there which is excellent.

“I don’t think I could support any closure plans.”
