THE last two council care homes in a North Wales county look set to be axed. Wrexham council chiefs will recommend next week the authority stops the direct provision of elderly residential care. It means Nant Silyn, in Whitegate, and Llys Madoc, Plas Madoc, will be phased out if councillors agree. Council bosses want the remaining Llys Madoc residents to be moved out but still cared for in a local authority home – Nant Silyn – as long as it was viable. But eventually the two would be closed under the plans. Wrexham campaigner Ken Mack last night branded the situation a disgrace and accused the council of betraying the elderly and disabled. |
