Coun Evans handed him the county court summons at the end of a meeting in Caernarfon called to discuss policing in the area with local councillors. He said: "I am issuing the writ because I believe the chief is providing services of a sub-standard nature. The services are below that I believe I should be paying for." The summons, issued at Llangefni County Court last Friday, pinpoints "failure to provide services paid for up to a standard and agreed level". It adds: "Services provided were sub-standard and of a level causing stress and fear, and unwilling and unable to respond to incidents of a criminal nature." Mr Evans is demanding the return of £223.47 paid by him in council tax to the North Wales Police Authority and £30 costs. He has also made a formal complaint about Mr Brunstrom to Malcolm King, chairman of the police authority. It refers to a newspaper letter in which Mr Evans alleged his honesty and integrity had been challenged. * EVERY one of Britain's estimated 6,000 speed cameras are being reviewed to ensure they are in the right place for saving lives, a Government minister said last night. Road Safety Minister David Jamieson has asked all parties involved in running cameras up and down the UK to check they meet Department of Transport criteria. The news comes just days after Home Secretary David Blunkett appeared to contemplate changes in speeding laws. |
