In a statement yesterday a police spokeswoman said: "This is a criminal investigation as is the right and proper procedure for any road traffic collision involving death or serious injury. "The current speculation surrounding this tragic event is not helpful and could well hamper the investigation. "North Wales police will therefore not be entering into any further discussion until the investigation into all aspects of the incident is complete." * The funerals of three of the tragedy victims will be held next week. A funeral service for David Horrocks, 55, of Llanerch, will be held on Tuesday at 3pm at Colwyn Bay crematorium. Donations are requested towards Rhyl and VC Melyd cycling clubs. The service for club chairman Maurice Broadbent, 61, of Rhuddlan, will be held on Wednesday at 1.30pm at St Michael's Church, Abergele, followed by committal at Colwyn Bay crematorium. Donations are requested towards the Dave Rayner fund or St Kentigern Hospice. On Thursday at 11.45am a service will be held for Wayne Wilkes, 42, at St Thomas' Church, Rhyl, followed by the crematorium. Donations will be shared between Shelter Cymraeg and Alzheimers Research. No details of the funeral for 14-year-old schoolboy Thomas Harland, of Prestatyn, have been announced. m.hookham@central-press.co.uk |
