Brunstrom 'snub' for drug cafe man

Feb 28 2002

Daily Post

A NORTH Wales man who has drawn up controversial plans to open an Amsterdam-style cannabis cafe, claims he has been snubbed by the Chief Constable.

Jeffrey Ditchfield is proposing to open the coffee shop in Rhyl, against the law and is prepared to argue his case in court.

Last week, Mr Ditchfield attended a presentation given to Rhyl Town Council by North Wales Police Chief Constable Richard Brunstrom.

After the meeting, he approached Mr Brunstrom and asked for a meeting and initially Mr Brunstrom agreed. Mr Ditchfield said: "He agreed to a meeting and referred me to his staff officer who took my address and other details. I expected a meeting to be arranged but was surprised to receive a letter last weekend withdrawing the offer.

"No explanation was given and I am very disappointed that Mr Brunstrom is not able to hear my side of the argument."

North Wales Police declined to comment on the issue.

Mr Ditchfield's plans have been condemned by Rhyl Town Council, which claims drug problems are rife...SUPL:
