JUNE Lloyd Hughes is the best mum in Wales.

She donated a kidney to save her daughter Eleri's life, and has taken the youngster to London at least 400 times for treatment.

Her own mother has now nominated her for the title of Wondermum.

June, of Princes Road, Rhuddlan, has already picked up the Welsh title.

If she beats five other Wondermums from around the UK, she could be in line to win a family holiday and a £4,000 shopping bonanza.

The contest is being run jointly by the morning TV programme GMTV, ASDA and a national newspaper.

June's other daughter has now been accepted as a student nurse at the London hospital where Eleri is treated.

Her mum, Olive Lloyd, also of Rhuddlan, told the judging panel June had devoted her life to making life as enjoyable as possible for Eleri.

The 12-year-old was born with multiple medical problems including a chromosome abnormality and June has been her sole carer.

Throughout her life Eleri has been treated at Great Ormond Street Hospital, sometimes travelling to London twice a week.
