THE Anglesey Show, which opens tomorrow, is already set to be a record breaker with more entries than ever. Organisers Anglesey Agricultural Society are convinced they will smash last year's best ever two-day attendance of 55,000 showgoers. "It is looking set to be a fantastic event," said show press officer Mike Roberts last night. "It seems we claim records every year but it's a fact. "The show has grown and is growing at a rapid rate. We are proud of it and we don't mind boasting about our success." Show administrator Aled Hughes, making frantic eve of show preparations at the Mona showground, was just as optimistic. He said: "With improvements we have made over the year like the new pavilion Môn, new entrance gates, electrical work and general tidying up the whole showground is looking good. "All we need now is fine weather to bring the crowds rolling in." The show, the premier event of its kind in North Wales and second only throughout Wales to the Royal Welsh, will have record entries in almost every livestock section. Mr Roberts said: "Sheep numbers are up by 60 to 1,060, light horses have topped the thousand mark without counting the heavy horses and show jumpers. |
