WREXHAM rocked this weekend to the biggest AC/DC convention ever staged. Wild man of rock, group founder and original lead singer Dave Evans was the star attraction at the event which featured 10 leading AC/DC heavy metal tribute bands. The Big Ball event kicked off on Friday night at the William Aston Hall. The highlight came on Saturday when Dave Evans - originally from Carmarthen - performed with Wrexham's AC/DC tribute band Seedy/DC. It was his first performance in Wales for over 30 years. Evans's family emigrated to Australia in the 1950s when he was five. He founded heavy metal band AC/DC with brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. But he left the band six months after they found real fame following a punch-up with the manager. Organiser Andy Whitfield, of Acton, Wrexham, said the event had attracted interest from all over the world and been a great success. |
