Ban after 80 years of protesting

Sep 23 2004

by Kevin Hughes, Chester Chronicle Newspapers

THE League Against Cruel Sports would like to thank its many supporters and MPs of all parties for all their hard work in obtaining a vote in the House of Commons to ban hunting with dogs on September 15.

This historic vote comes after 80 years of campaigning by the League and fulfils the wishes of 76% of the general public who wanted a ban on hunting with dogs.

Let us not forget the hard work and tireless campaigning that has contributed to this.

Up and down the country people have written letters, organised peaceful demonstrations, run stalls and written an avalanche of letters to the press and to MPs.

It is this constant peaceful and law-abiding dedication that has made sure the struggle to ban hunting has enjoyed such a high profile and that finally will lead to the end of this abhorrent and barbaric bloodsport.

Once again, thank you for your support in voting to consign this cruel and outdated practice to the history books.

DOUGLAS BATCHELOR

Chief Executive, League Against Cruel Sports
