A SCAM which gave North Wales rock veterans The Alarm their first chart hit in 21 years has inspired a Hollywood film. Frontman Mike Peters, right, agreed to let movie makers tell the tale of how Rhyl's most famous musical export pulled the wool over the industry's eyes. Life-long friend Sara Sugarman will direct the film which will be shot on location in North Wales. Earlier this year The Alarm posed as a bunch of fresh-faced youngsters in a bid to get their single played on the radio. The Poppyfields, who in February entered the charts at 28, were hotly tipped by Radio 1 DJs. But the group was actually a front for The Alarm. They admitted using the false name claiming image-obsessed DJs would otherwise refuse to play their song. |
