Holly's duet with Hayley is dream come true

Nov 18 2004

Holly Holyoake, 16, (right) was thrilled to sing Ave Maria with classical star Hayley Westenra at the North Wales Theatre, Llandudno

A 16-YEAR-OLD girl last night told of her excitement at being plucked from a theatre audience to sing a duet with one of the world's biggest classical music stars.

Holly Holyoake sang Ave Maria with Hayley Westenra at Llandudno's North Wales Theatre.

The sixth-former from Newport, who sings with male voice choirs in South Wales, is a member of the star's international fan club.

She first met the New Zealand singing sensation when she was in concert at St David's Hall, in Cardiff, last year.

The pair met again last Saturday when Holly asked to perform a duet with Hayley in the foyer of St David's Hall, when the star was signing copies of her album Pure.

Hayley obliged and when she spotted Holly in last night's audience the pair resumed their recently-formed partnership.

Holly said: "I was thrilled to perform with Hayley. She's an inspiration to me."

Hayley said it is "highly likely" Holly's singing talents will secure her a recording contract.
