A MID Wales MP is behind a shocking video showing foxes snared and shot which is being distributed to animal rights campaigners. Montgomeryshire MP Lembit Öpik wants to show campaigners the cruelty he claims will follow the implementation of the hunting ban. The DVD was compiled by the Middle Way group on hunting, of which Mr Öpik is joint chairman. The Liberal Democrat MP and the Middle Way group have called for licensed fox-hunting. Mr Öpik said yesterday the film would show ban supporters how foxes are likely to be killed when hunting with dogs is outlawed from Friday next week. Council of Hunting Associations secretary, Brian Fanshawe, said yesterday at least 250 hunts would take place on Saturday February 19, the day after the ban comes into force. |
