I look great naked... but I don't want it on show

May 23 2005

By David Powell, Daily Post

SINGER Charlotte Church has admitted she drinks and smokes too much. And she thinks she looks pretty good naked.

The 19-year-old singing sensation was speaking as she prepares to release her next album, Tissues and Issues, for which she co-wrote seven of the 12 tracks with Guy Chambers, Gary Barlow and others.

In a Sunday magazine interview Cardiff-born Charlotte said: "I think I drink too much for health reasons. My poor liver! It hasn't even developed yet! But everyone does it at my age. If I can't do it now, when can I do it?"

However she still feels she is unfairly branded a drinker by the media which keeps publishing photos of her on nights out looking sozzled.

Charlotte says smoking is another habit which will make her voice deeper and raspier but she loves doing it.

She added: "I still enjoy smoking." She admires "fiesty, sassy" artists like Tina Turner, Gloria Estefan and Christine Aguilera, but wouldn't copy the latter's raunchy videos.

Charlotte says: "I personally wouldn't want all my flesh on show. I wouldn't do it to my nana. I don't want loads of random fellas, and my dad's friends, seeing my body. I want to keep it for my fella. I think I look pretty good naked."

She likes her fuller figure and adds: "I just love food and hate the gym and it seems to be a pretty curvy combination."

Romantically, Charlotte and her boyfriend, Wales rugby star Gavin Henson, are very happy.

Issues is out on July 11. The first single Crazy Chick is out on June 27.
