Prince Charles backs offshore windfarm campaign

May 24 2005

Daily Post

PRINCE Charles has backed protests over a proposed windfarm.

Plans for 230 turbines nine miles off Penrhyn Bay, near Llandudno, were met with anger by campaigners.

Developers npower renewables are expected to put their proposals to the government soon.

Save Our Seascape (SOS) turned to Prince Charles for help.

The reply read: "His Royal Highness recognises and understands the strength of your concern about the visual impact that wind farms have on landscape and seascapes and shares your wish to ensure there is balanced and wise decision-making in this matter.

"While his Royal Highness cannot become personally involved in individual planning matters, he is doing everything to ensure that the organisations with which he has an association are fully aware of all the potential consequences of such developments."

Npower renewables was not available for comment.
